Our Aims

At least 150,000 adults have congenital heart disease in the UK.

Every year another 2,500 babies are born with serious congenital heart disease.

We are working to give these babies a better start in life.

Change lives

Detecting congenital heart disease (CHD) before birth can change lives. The best time to detect CHD is during the routine "20 week" scan, which is offered to most mothers.

Sadly, many babies with CHD are missed by the "20 week" scan, which is very distressing.  The good news is that with the right training and support, this is changing, giving more babies a better start.

How does this affect me? Every pregnancy carries a small risk that a baby will be born with heart disease (about 1 in 133) and this increases slightly with family history, age and other factors.  How much do you know about your risk?  Read more about your risk ...
